The Gap follows a cheerleading team in a small town in the South, newly given the opportunity to redeem themselves at State. At Gilbert High, the cheerleaders are not the highest on the food chain. Most live in trailers and have after school jobs to pay for things they actually need or need to survive high school (a phone, rainbow flip flops). When the co-captain of the team makes it her mission to get the racist school mascot removed, her peers challenge the value of symbolic progress and her commitment to “change.”

Natasha wants to escape for good; Judi wants to sleep; and Sophia just doesn't want to end up left alone. Meanwhile, this trio of "sistas" will do what they can to survive their circumstances and each other.

Casting is complete for Theatre East's upcoming production of Romulus Linney's Holy Ghosts. The play, which kicks off the tenth season of the Off-Broadway company, has not been seen in New York for four decades.
Helmed by Theatre East Artistic Director Judson Jones, performances will begin September 21 at Urban Stages, 259 W. 30th St., and continue through October 6.
The cast features Lizzy Jarrett as Nancy Shedman, Oliver Palmer as Coleman Shedman, James Anthony McBride as Obediah Buckhorn, Sr, John Cannon as Obediah Buckhorn, Jr. with Tom Green as Rogers Canfield, Brandon Fox as Howard Rudd, Corey Whelihan as Orin Hart, Lori Fischer as Bonnie Bridge, Debra Wassum as Mrs. Wall, Matthew Napoli as Carl Specter, Tiffani Stone as Lorena Cosburg, Jon Kovach as Billy Boggs, Kelsey Sheppard as Muriel Boggs, Alston Slatton as Virgil Tides, and Jerry Colpittsas as Cancer Man.
Set in present-day rural Tennessee, Holy Ghosts concerns a group of broken, Pentecostal outcasts who find solace, understanding, and strength in one another as they wrestle with their own serpents and discover their divinity.
The creative team also includes production manager Libby Jensen, scenic designer Steven Brenman, lighting designer Zach Murphy, costume designer Sherry Martinez, sound designer Margaret Montagna, production stage manager Julia Rae Maldonado, and assistant director Christa Kimlicko Jones.

About The New Colossus
A deconstruction of modern American mythology, The New Colossus follows four storylines, each orbiting around the figure of Superman. It weaves together a mourning brother and sister, a superhero and his alter ego, a barren wasteland where the past doesn't seem to exist, a national uprising, an atomic bomb, and the construction of a new statue. As the storylines interweave, the collective fiction that binds our world together starts to come into conflict with reality, threatening to destroy the whole structure. But how far are those on top willing to go to retain their authority, and will anything be left behind?

I'm so excited to be working with my good friend Jeff Athey on a staged reading of his feature length screenplay "Still Breathing".
"This is the coming of age story of a young, gay teenager who has been recently diagnosed with cancer. Peter tends to wear the persona of someone who is strong and independent to avoid worrying those around him. However, there is more holding him back than he wants to admit. "
